These awards are available to students who are registered full-time in a thesis-based program. Some awards, including the prestigious Killam Predoctoral Scholarships, are distributed through the Open Scholarship Competition. This is an annual competition for a large number of internal awards. Students interested in the Open Scholarship Competition should contact their program of interest directly. Graduate bursaries are also available to students with a demonstrated financial need. Graduate Assistant (Teaching) recipients assist with the instructional responsibilities of the department. Graduate Assistantships (Non-Teaching) recipients assist with non-teaching responsibilities such as research. Graduate Assistantships (Trust) are funded from the research support accounts held in trust for university staff who select and recommend graduate students for these appointments.
