Schulich Industry Advisory Council

SCHULICH INDUSTRY ADVISORY COUNCIL
The Schulich Industry Advisory Council will influence programs designed to educate graduates who can tackle challenges and solve problems that are yet unknown. The responsibilities of the council, drawn from strategic areas of engineering for Alberta and Canada, include providing input and advice on direction and growth opportunities for the Schulich School of Engineering, identifying research opportunities with industry, and expanding the links between the engineering school and the professional engineering community.

Mandate
The Schulich Industry Advisory Council (SIAC) will provide general strategic advice to the Schulich School of Engineering (SSE) on its programs and future directions and also guidance in the development and implementation of the Engineering Associates Program (EAP).

Guidelines

  • Schulich Industry Advisory Council members will also be members of the Engineering Associates Program.
  • There will a minimum of 12 members.
  • Membership will be balanced to provide representation across industry sectors.
  • The Dean of the SSE will be an ex-officio member of the Council.
  • One SSE faculty member may be appointed to the Council.
  • The Chair and Vice Chair of the Council will normally be from industry.
  • The selection and appointment of SIAC members will be made by the Dean, in consultation with the Chair of the Council.
  • The term of office for appointed members will be normally for three years with the principle of rotation to maintain perpetuation of experience. Reappointment can be made for an additional three year term.
  • There will be a minimum of three meetings per year.

The Engineering Leaders campaign is a $60 million fundraising initiative to build the best in engineering schools. Support the campaign and the Schulich School of Engineering.
