Entrepreneurship in action
What is the Schulich Launchpad?
Launchpad offers the chance for you to gain first-hand experience with what entrepreneurs do and how they create companies. The program is open to UCalgary undergraduate and graduate students with a business idea or tech innovation, or those with a desire to collaborate to solve a problem the world is facing. You can gain expert support to guide you during the formative stages of developing your own product or business – from concept to prototype.
Dedicated innovation spaces
You will have a dedicated workspace for a term, with access to high-performance computers, meeting spaces, portable whiteboards, electronics equipment and other materials. The close proximity of your new workspace to the Maker Multiplex also gives you access to the facilities you need for early product design, testing and prototyping.
Mentor check-ins and focused networking
Through our partnership with the Hunter Hub for Entrepreneurial Thinking and the Haskayne School of Business, you'll be matched with industry mentors who can help you take your idea further. You'll meet for regular check-ins as mentors help you focus your efforts. You will also have access to entrepreneurial events on campus and around Calgary.
Workshops to hone your business skills
You'll attend customized workshops to help you develop your skills as an entrepreneur. These sessions will cover a range of topics from developing business plans to assessing market need, and from expanding your network to understanding the early stages of business development.
One academic term
There are none!
To participate, you need to meet with industry mentors for periodic check-ins, attend workshops on Wednesday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. and your team must spend a minimum of 10 hours per week in your work space. You are also expected to participate in the Go/No Go Show at the end of the terms and some activities in Calgary’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Submit an individual application or a group application.
You don’t have to go it alone. If you don’t already have a team, we can help you build a student team and even help you develop an idea.
