Urban Alliance Professor
Lina’s research program at the University of Calgary focuses on advanced traffic management and information systems, freeway management, traveler information systems, network microsimulation modeling and analysis, application of artificial intelligence to ITS, dynamic demand modeling, Connected Vehicle, traveler behavioral modeling in response to ITS and Applications of ITS to Public Transit.
Dr. Lina Kattan received her BSc and MSc from the American University of Beirut, and her PhD at the University of Toronto. She holds the Urban Alliance Research Professorship in Transportation Systems Optimization and previous to this, was an AMA Chair in Smart Multimodal Transportation Systems. She is also the director of the AMA Active Traffic and Demand Management Laboratory, which was funded with a major CFI grant. She has received many awards including, the NSERC Discovery Accelerator Supplement grant in 2014, the 2014 Killam Emerging Research Leader Award and the Schulich School of Engineering Graduate Educator Award in 2015.
