How an internship works

We offer one of the most flexible work placement programs in Canada

Hire a student for 4 to 16 months

Students come to you already skilled in a number of disciplines including:

  • Biomedical engineering 
  • Chemical engineering
  • Civil engineering
  • Electrical engineering
  • Energy engineering
  • Energy and environment engineering
  • Geomatics engineering
  • Mechanical and manufacturing engineering
  • Oil and gas engineering
  • Software engineering

Who qualifies?

Engineering students must complete all courses required for their first three years of study to participate in an internship.

They must be registered as a full-time student and be in good academic standing – with a GPA of at least 2.0 during the past academic year. Students must also be returning to full-time classes after their internship.

Where can interns be placed?

Companies within Alberta, across Canada or around the world can accept Schulich interns.

Employer responsibilities

Offer a paid job placement of between 4 to 16 months.

Create and post a job description for the position you have available.

Select the ideal candidate to join your organization as an intern.

Conduct the Work Integrated Learning Outcomes (WILO) performance feedback review each term.

Prepare a work plan for your intern’s arrival.
