I want to be challenged every day and have a new problem to solve: to always be forced to be improving myself in order to help those around me.

There was a lack of encouragement to consider pursuing engineering. I only began to consider the idea near the end of Grade 11 and, even then, I had to search out all of the information about programs on my own.

The Diversity in Engineering Scholarship greatly promoted diversity in engineering at the University of Calgary as it encourages young women to apply to the program. Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) also promotes diversity and has many great volunteering opportunities which promote it as well.

The problem solving aspect that all of the classes bring. Creative thinking is required often, and I’ve always enjoyed tasks which involve thinking outside of the box.
