Timeline for Canoe Trip

  • March 5: Invitation to eligible Engineering Leadership Program students sent by Global Engineering Team
  • March 5 - April 1: Application process opens
  • April 1: Application process closes
  • April 15: Selected students notified
  • April 30: Payment due at the Outdoor Centre
  • June 1 - 2: Participants attend prep days
  • June 7 - 9: Canoeing trip

Selection process

  1. Once the application period closes, the Engineering Career Centre (ECC) will review applications to ensure the applicant meets the minimum criteria.
  2. Students who meet the minimum criteria will be entered into a lottery for their trip.
  3. Applicants will be selected from the lottery. The ECC will ensure that the final list of students will be inclusive of equity deserving groups.
  4. Should there be a vacancy, further students may be selected from the lottery.

Selection criteria

Past or current registrants in the Certificate in Engineering Leadership receive primary consideration. Engineering Leadership Alumni are also encouraged to apply and will receive secondary consideration based on availability.  

Cancellation policy

The student assumes all financial risk and responsibility for their trip payment should they cancel, as payment will not be refunded.

Past experiences

In September 2023, students experienced the tranquil and secluded CMC Valley, located just north of Mount Yamnuska. This valley exudes a unique charm due to its remote location and restricted access from the east.
