Aerospace Engineering

This minor enables students to design and construct new aircraft and spacecraft systems, including crewless aerial vehicles, flight control systems, propulsion technologies, satellite technologies, navigation and remote sensing systems.

Available in second year with Electrical (ENEL), Geomatics (ENGO), Mechanical (ENME) and Software (ENSF).

Biomedical Engineering

This unique, faculty-wide program integrates the study of complex living systems with engineering principles. Students learn how to apply these traditional principles to human and animal health.

Available in second year with Chemical (ENCH), Civil (ENCI), Electrical (ENEL), Geomatics (ENGO), Mechanical (ENME), Software (ENSF).

Computer Engineering

This minor bolsters students’ knowledge in computer programming fundamentals, computer organization, integrated circuit technology, memory and biometric systems design, embedded system interfacing, digital signal processors and much more.

Available in second year with Electrical (ENEL).

Concentration in Cadastral Surveying

This six-course concentration prepares students for professional land surveying. Technical electives include geodetic and engineering surveys, survey law, land use planning and hydrographic surveying.

Digital Engineering

This minor allows you to develop some software engineering and coding skills while pursuing a non-software engineering major. Students learn about artificial intelligence, machine learning, the Internet of Things and more.

Available in second year with Chemical (ENCH), Civil (ENCI), Electrical (ENEL), Geomatics (ENGO), Mechanical (ENME), Biomedical (ENBI) and Sustainability (ENSS).

Energy and Environment

This program is the first of its kind in Canada. Students learn about the direct and indirect impacts energy-related activities have on the environment and how to understand, avoid, reduce and solve potential problems. 

Available in second year with Chemical (ENCH), Civil (ENCI), Electrical (ENEL), Geomatics (ENGO) and Mechanical (ENME).

Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development

This joint program with the Haskayne School of Business helps students build entrepreneurial skills. They learn the principles and practices of developing new ventures and managing small- to medium-sized companies.

Available in second year for any program.

Management and Society

This program teaches students about the role of management in our institutions and society. Engineering students learn how to apply managerial skills in a business environment.

Manufacturing Engineering

The minor in manufacturing engineering is designed to equip students with the knowledge to develop sustainable solutions and assist industries in transitioning towards more environmentally friendly modes of production.

Available in fourth year with Mechanical (ENME).

Mechatronics Engineering

This minor integrates mechanical, electrical, and software engineering to provide students with the skills needed to design and develop a wide range of mechatronics systems, such as intelligent robots.

This program provides students with the skills required to work in the oil and gas industry. Students broaden their knowledge with technical electives in geology and reservoir engineering.

This program provides students with the skills required for engineering design and structural analysis of buildings, bridges and structures of varying proportions. Students learn to use materials and software for designing safe and sustainable structures.

This program focuses on various aspects of transportation, including transportation planning and operation, highway geometric design, traffic engineering and more. Students learn the skills necessary to plan and operate transportation systems.
