Areas of Research
I've been active in experimental and computational research related to gas hydrate kinetics and thermodynamics for more than 20 years. My work includes experimental measurement of gas hydrate formation and dissociation kinetics, measurement of thermodynamic equilibrium conditions and thermodynamic modelling of hydrate phase behaviour. My current hydrates research centres around the house of hydrates for hydrogen storage as well as on modelling hydrate formation in the presence of amino acids.
My involvement with biomaterials began with predicting phase equilibrium conditions in biodiesel. These equation of state based predictions included vapour-liquid, liquid-liquid and solid-liquid equilibrium. Currently I am supervising a project that is exploring novel pre-treatment of hemp wastes, for use in ethanol production. I'm also supervising a project that will convert food wastes into phase change materials, for eventual use in construction materials.
