BME Program Timelines
MSc and PhD Programs
Start of Program
- Online Registration through the MyUofC Portal
- Register for all courses at the same time. Complete registration early.
- Any Questions, please consult with your supervisor or contact the BME Graduate Program office, bmegrad@ucalgary.ca
At 3 Months
- Establish and meet Supervisory Committee
- Once committee is established, submit the names to the Graduate Program Coordinator (Administration) at bmegrad@ucalgary.ca
- Submit the BME Graduate Program Research Proposal form signed by committee members to the BME Graduate Program Office, bmegrad@ucalgary.ca
May Each Year
- Submit the online Annual Progress Report
At 12 Months/End of First Year
- Complete annual registration through the MyUofC Portal
Near End of Program
- Obtain permission to begin writing thesis from Supervisory Committee
- At least 6 weeks before your MSc defense provide all required information to Graduate Program Coordinator (Administration) to compile your examination documentation, bmegrad@ucalgary.ca
- Contact BME Graduate Program Office for all required forms and preparation material for defence, bmegrad@ucalgary.ca
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Timeline

- Contact BME Graduate Program Office, bmegrad@ucalgary.ca for all required Candidacy and/or Defence forms, timelines and preparation material. Please notify the office a minimum of 6-9 weeks prior to any examination plans.
