Biography

Dr. Jay Carriere earned his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Alberta in 2011 and 2019, respectively. Between his B.Sc. and Ph.D. studies, he worked in industry as a project engineer gaining experience in controls, instrumentation, and fabrication. His current interdisciplinary research is based around control systems and theory for human-robot interaction, focusing primarily on medical application areas, such as assistive, collaborative, and surgical robotics. His research interests include areas such as intelligent control, computer vision, impedance control, mechatronics, and machine learning technologies.
