Activities

My main research area is in Human-Computer Interactions. The goal of the research is to suggest principles and methods for facilitating intuitive human interactions with virtual environments. Human neural mechanisms underlying visual environments. Human neural mechanisms underlying visual perception and visually guided actions are being applied to medical and engineering applications (e.g. surgical planning systems, autonomous robots). Specific topics include:

  • Neural networks to simulate the human process of high-level visual information
  • Investigation and modelling of neural mechanisms underlying visual perception and visually guided actions
  • Methods for cognitive-ergonomic interactions in virtual environments
  • Development of surgical planning systems for the treatment of lung cancer, including medical image processing

Collaborations are in progress with Dr. Oksana Suchowersky of the Movements Disorders & Therapeutic Brain Stimulation group; and Dr. Garnetter Sutherland of the neuroArm project.
