In Memoriam: Chandler Jade William 'CJ' Dixon, Open Studies
Chandler Jade William “CJ” Dixon, 40 years old, of Eden Valley, Alta., left us suddenly on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, with his loving family surrounding him. CJ takes his journey to the spirit world to be with his beloved and cherished Ena Shirley (Grandma).
CJ was born Friday, July 20, 1984, in High River, Alta., to Carol Lynn Dixon and James (Denise) Wells. CJ had graduated from Lester B. Pearson in 2002. He went on to do some upgrading at Mount Royal University to obtain his goal of mechanical engineering. Once he achieved that, he moved on to the University of Calgary and was accepted into the mechanical engineering program.
He worked for ATCO Structures and Logistics, Ellis Don, and Tsuut’ina Public Works. CJ had a passion for hockey and was a very accomplished player. He had played hockey for many years where he made a lot of friends who would eventually become like family. He excelled in other sports, but hockey was always number one. He was an avid Calgary Flames fan. He also enjoyed bike riding, as it gave him the freedom to travel anywhere.
CJ was a humble and kind man who would give you the shirt off his back. CJ was punctual, hardworking, and goal driven. He loved to visit and be surrounded by his family and friends. He had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews who brought him so much joy. CJ loved the hugs, kisses, and smiles they lovingly gave him. He had such a soft spot for his special niece, Brooklynn, whom he called his “Brooksie girl.”
He leaves behind to mourn his traditionally adopted parents, Louie and Laura Heavenfire. He is survived by his siblings, Kenneth (Crystal), Blaine (Helena), Konnor, Jordana (Shawn), Roger, and Jake; grandparents, Bernice Starlight, whom he called his “Granny Wells,” Jane Werner Amiotte, Marlene Onespot, Gerald (Jenny) Clarke, Irene Fox, Delia, Marilyn (Mathew), Jennifer, Sylvia and Nelda Bigstoney, and Karen (Harry) Wildman; uncles, Byron (Rochelle), Angus (Lyndsey), Cory, Jamie, Wendel (Lyndsay), Shawn Runner, Cody Wells, Freddie Powder, Tom Powder, Bruce Powder, Derrick Bearspaw, and Chris and Curtis (Melanie) Clarke; aunts, Debbie, Brenda (Bob), Jolene, Olivia, Rosetta, Leslie Wells-Starlight, Rhonda Starlight, Nicole (Merv) Billinski, Cleo Onespot, Cecilia Bearspaw, Eva Powder, Wendy Powder, Rhonda (Hirrem) Wildman, Geraldine Powderface, Nikki (David), Jennice (Logan), and Ashley Clarke.
