Norman Campbell to receive Distinguished Academic Award

Dr. Norman Campbell has been chosen to receive the Confederation of Alberta Faculty Associations (CAFA) Distinguished Academic Award for 2014.

Dr. Norman Campbell has been chosen to receive the Confederation of Alberta Faculty Associations (CAFA) Distinguished Academic Award for 2014.

A Professor of Medicine, Community Health Sciences and Physiology and Pharmacology and a member of the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta, Dr. Campbell is being recognized with such an honour as his research has made an outstanding contribution to the wider community beyond the university.

Dr. Campbell is a leader in the effort to prevent and control hypertension in Canada as the CIHR Canadian Chair in Hypertension Prevention and Control. Through this leadership role and that of his position as Heart and Stroke Foundation Chair in Hypertension Prevention and Control, his research assists in heightening Canadians’ awareness of high blood pressure, decrease its incidence through prevention strategies and improve the overall management of the disease.

Dr. Campbell will be presented with the award at the 2014 CAFA Awards Dinner, which will take place in Edmonton on Thursday, September 25, 2014.
