Starting this week, United Way representatives in your unit, faculty or department will be selling Give 'n' Thanks stars — a way to creatively recognize your colleagues and raise money for the UCalgary United Way Campaign. Stars sell for $2 each or three for $5, and 100 per cent of the proceeds go toward the campaign.

After purchasing the stars and writing (or drawing) a fun message, you can hand deliver them to your recipients or send them through campus mail. It's an opportunity to recognize, support and encourage your colleagues, employees, teammates — or even strangers — across campus. Recognizing colleagues through the stars acknowledges good work and shows appreciation across your team.

There are many ways to give to the United Way campaign. Give online, download a paper pledge form, or find information on tax receipts related to your United Way investment.

Last year, the University of Calgary set a new record in its United Way fundraising campaign with an investment of $634,952* from our students, faculty, staff, volunteers and supporters — far surpassing our 50th anniversary goal. With this in mind, the 2017 fundraising goal is to raise $550,000.
